Well worth the stop for lunch. Quick friendly service. Really good deli selections and homemade salad and soups. This is more than a coffee house. Lots of parking, seating out door and in. I ordered 1/2 of a roast beef sandwich on ciabatta roll. Really good, but a little small. This also included a small bowl of tomato basil soup. Delicious. This was just the right amount all for $8.95. I will make sure to stop again next time I come over the mountain.

Great food! Beautiful location! Nice ambiance. Snotty service. Making eye contact and smiling would've gone a long way toward more yelp stars.

Neat little shop and breakfast sandwiches were good. Customer service was lacking though as they were not very friendly, and their house coffee wasn't all that great. I will probably not return as their prices were higher than average - especially for drip coffee.

Each time we head across the Santiam Pass we try to stop at Rosie's for coffee or tea and a nosh to tide us over. And, OK, also to use the nice clean bathrooms at this most friendly local place. We normally take our beverages and food to go as we always seem to be on a schedule. But the warm and sparkling homey interior of Rosie's has also been a good place to unwind and eat in on a couple of occasions when it was cold and snowy outside. Not to mention the neat little (as in tiny) front porch has some outdoor seating in the summer. Rosie's claim to fame is scones and sweet baked goods, but sweets here are not what we aim for. We always have our sights set on one or more of the following options... ...a slice of quiche (they make different types all the time and always a vegetarian option), ...soup (depending on what kind it is that's simmering that day), ...potato salad (which can't be beat) or ...top notch broccoli salad (with chopped nuts and dried cranberries). Everything is house made and yummy. Coffee and tea are served nice and hot. Quiche and soup come good and warm. And the salads are perfectly chilled. If you're ordering a sandwich, you'll have a short wait at peak periods. This is not a "production" shop, but a small local place and keeping up with the orders can be a challenge for the nice staff sometimes. When we first started stopping at Rosie's, maybe ten years ago, it was as if it was our little secret...always room in their little parking lot and seldom more than a couple of people inside placing orders. Now it seems the lot is very often full and there is a line at the counter. Good for Rosie's! They've been discovered. Another good for them note for Yeeps and other peeps who need to know about accessibility before stopping, Rosie's has accessible (aka ADA) parking in their lot, striped for folks who might need wheelchair ramp to exit a vehicle. They also have an accessible entry and the order and dining area is accessible too. The loo should work for wheelchair access as well, it seems to me (has grab bars and lots of floor space) although the pathway to get there might be a tad narrow unless someone moves stored things (like child booster chairs) out of the way.

While I have been to Rosie's many times and although they have great coffee, today just blew me away. I was very disappointed as I love their coffee. There is a review on here complaining of an employee with a poor attitude, and I think I might know why. I have been acquainted with the owner, and while our interactions have always been pleasant, the way i witnessed her treat her employees today was shocking. I could not believe what I was hearing. She completely humiliated her employee in front of a room full of customers in the most demeaning, embarassing, LOUD and uncalled for tone. I could not believe her employee didn't just walk out on her with the way I heard her talking. Not only is it TOTALLY unprofessional for the owner to be so downright mean and disrespectful to her employees, it made me and the rest of the room palpably uncomfortable.

I love coming to Rosie's! They absolutely hands-down have the best coffee I've ever tasted. The atmosphere is cozy and adorable and at times gets a little crowded but that is okay with me. Outside seating in the summer is a plus. I agree that the ladies could serve a few extra smiles but I've noticed that the service is getting friendlier. Always always smile! It goes a loooonnnnggggg way in customer service.

If you've ever driven highway 22 headed east out of Salem Oregon for 30 miles, you will pass through Mill City. A small quaint town at the 860 foot elevation as you head towards Detroit and up the mountain towards Sisters and Bend. Just before you leave Mill City is a wonderful coffee house owned by mother (Beth) and Daughter (Sarah).. Not only is the Allan Brothers coffee always fresh, but they know how to make a great coffee beverage. Their homemade pastries are to die for and they usually have a great daily special with homemade soup. The staff is very friendly and will always greet you with a smile and quick service. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is a small mountain cottage that always smells great. I highly suggest stopping by to get a snack and a drink and you will appreciate their clean restrooms too...

Scones good enough to make a grown woman cry, Allann Brothers coffee and gourmet sandwiches all housed in a cute yellow farmhouse. One of the true small town delights on our way to and from Central Oregon. The Gobbler is my favorite sandwich and I always grab a marionberry scone or two for the road. Mill City is a very small place, but it is the best stop for food and drinks between Salem and Detroit Lake. They have some tables on the front porch, but no table service so head inside and place your order. They have a few other food and gift items, including jewelry and aprons for sale. The place is jam packed with goodness.

Love love Rosie's! Food and coffees are usually quite good... Unless, you have one staff that does not have a servant attitude, or a cheerful disposition take your order, or make it. Unfortunately it only takes one negative, non-smiling employee to let you know she is put out by having to place your order! What is a great coffee shop, has a young gal that does not enjoy her job. ALL WINTER after or before a ski day, made a stop. EVERY time heading to Bend or Sister's, made a stop. Camping, kayaking trips, whatever traveled past Rosie's meant I had to stop.. Would you believe the one young gal(brown hair no smile, little to the heavy side)seemed to go out of her way all winter, spring, and into summer, to have a sharper tone in voice, to put a drink down very hard on the counter, yell for you to come get it, impatiently. She made a horrible drink this past weekend, but with so many people around I stared at my drink, and decided to not say anything. What I should be doing is praying for this young person, not complaining. She does not deserve to serve customers, or to spoil Rosie's good reputation! I'm just hoping she is not in management there, or even related to management. Sorry Rosie's, I still love you! Five stars for all of Rosie's...Zero for the one bad apple.

Great Sandwiches, beautiful little coffee house. If your driving between Salem and Bend this is a great spot to stop for a quick snack, coffee or a sandwich. The place seems to always be busy so don't expect to get in and out extremely fast.

This is a great place to stop on your way to Bend or Sisters. This is the kind of place that makes you wish you hadn't eaten lunch before you hit the road home. I had the roast beef sandwich and vegetable barley soup. The bread was fresh and the tomato, purple onion, and melted cheddar cheese took the sandwich to the next level. The soup was good, but I think I got the last bit left in the pot. What stood out and made this a must stop was the cookie. I had a chocolate chip, macadamia nut with coconut cookie. It was the kind of cookie that I will think about for a long time to come.

Dear Michele R. of Bend, As a former employee from the beginning and relative of the Rosies owners, I can say that our scones are made with 100% real butter. No shortening here.

  • Mike T.

We timed it just right within a few minutes the place was packed. We had the breakfast sandwich on a bagel, the bagel was a bit dry, will have the croissant next time. The scones were super, this will be a stop for us on the way to Bend

Aside from being a Mill City native, I am a coffeeshop sleuth. Rarely do cafes or coffeeshops take the time to pair quality treats with their coffee selection. Rosie's has two cases of homemade items, fresh smoothies, and handcrafted sandwiches (made to order). Jeri's Order: Half Homemade Tuna Salad Sandwich with cucumber, mustard, tomato, and lettuce on wheat bread. Side of Housemade Potato Salad and the grand finish of a marionberry scone. (Hand rolled Curry Roti Wrap and Homemade Quiche are close seconds). This is a great place to stop, order lunch, and head down to the river to enjoy a warm summer afternoon. Or grab your joe to go and stop by the snow park just outside of Mill City. Quaint town with great people.

Very popular. Very busy. OH! It's practically the only place to stop for a quick cup of coffee and the only place with such divine desserts! Sandwiches are made by a very nice person. The tomatoe basil soup- no tgood. I woudl have taken it back but there was a line of about 8 people..live with life! The cashier is still learning as she was 2 years ago when I stopped in here after a harrowing snow sliding drive. her temperament is simply not up to dealing with folks in a rush, tired, or simply not known to her. My sandwich was excellent. the baked goods draw ones eyes and hopes. Again, alas! my diet won ..

They use allann bros coffee which is good quality but their syrups, milks and chocolates for the espresso drinks are disgusting, cheap, awful quality and did I mention disgusting? I ordered an almond mocha and got a sour milk, watered down syrupy chocolate with SUGARY syrup with a tiny hint of artificial almond flavor. The service was terribly unprofessional and rude. The scones were stale, the cookie was very burnt.
